I am looking for info on Darwin Brown & Sarah (Brooks) Brown from the Wauconda area. 1870s to 1934. Their son ,Lee Brown married Louise Boehmer. Lee and his brother in law, Arthur Boehmer owned the Chevrolet garage from 1913 to 1952, when Arthur and his son Kenneth took over. I have some info and names of other inlaws. Roger §
Louise-- Illinois state law did not require that all deaths and births be reported until June of 1916. Only marriages had to be recorded from the beginning of the state. I checked the 1900 census of Lake County, IL and did not find your Paul Willson. Did he have any brothers or sisters? Sometimes the census records do not have the correct given names for children in families. The children may have been listed by a nickname or by a first name, when as adults they may have gone by a middle name, etc. You may want to check the soundex index for the state of IL in 1900 and find your Paul that way. Wilson is quite a common name, so you would have to go through quite a few families to check for a child with the name of Paul, but it may be the only way you will find the family. Good luck.
I checked the Lake County Marriages Index books published by the Lake Co., IL Genealogical Society for the time period of 1902-1906. There is no record of a marriage of John Bochinski & Constance Winiecki in Lake County. Good luck with your reseach.
Michelle, The Illinois Statewide Marriage Index can be found online here: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/cgi-bin/archives/marriage.s Unfortunately, it only covers 1763-1900.... you might have to write the courthouse in Waukegan to get records from 1903. Hi List, I'm new to the crowd. On one of the other lists we've been discussing how our ancestors in Milwaukee came to Waukegan to get quickie marriages. Sophie Dettman died Mar 27 1895. Born May 10, 1821 in Germany. She is buried in Cook Co. She lived in Northfield prior to death. I cannot find her death registered in Cook Co. Since the border between and Cook and Lake were so close, perhaps she is listed in Lake Co. I would appreciate any information you could give to help. me. Thanks Lou Zastrow
I would appreciate the family of Paul WILLISON who was born IL around 1890, He was living in Highland Park Illinois. Thanks Rose
Does any one have a e addy for a mailing list for Kane & McHenry cos ? Roger §
Hello, List, I have a copy of my gparents marriage certificate (NY) whereon my gf's place of birth is Highland Park, Ill. His name was Robert Martin. His parents were Robert Martin and Alvenia Wissinger. Birth certificates of his 3 children, (b.NY), also say his name was Robert---from Highland Park, Ill. (First child, son, Robert Martin, jr. b. 12-31-1900--Second child, daughter,b.4-24-1904, Mildred Alvenia Mertens--third child, son, Robert Martens, jr.-b.4-14-1907.) NOTE: The first born son was actually my father, Frederick Edward Martin. When he entered the military his name was recorded as Fred Martin and he never changed or corrected it. On death and marriage certificates, school records, etc. the family always used the name Martens. >From the dates on these certificates, my gf was married in 1897 at age 24. Therefore he must have been born in 1863. We cannot find a death record as he "left" the family when my father was about 11. I would like to find any information on this man that will connect him to High.Pk. and perhaps find other relatives from there. Can someone please help me? I thank you all in advance for any input. Hello, Sorry, I don't know who is moderating this list, otherwise I would address this privately to you, but can you please do something about the subject tags on this list... I have been on this list for a long time and have noticed this specific problem occurring over the last year - please is there some sort of setting that you can change to make headings like this one: "Re: [[ILLAKE]: ] Re: [[ILLAKE]: ] Re: [[ILLAKE]: ] Hotels - 1910" look like this: "Re:[ILLAKE] Hotels" which is much much easier to read. In at least one posting I think I have seen as many as 6 "Re:[[ILLAKE]" headings - I have not posted recently on this list specifically because I fear in all of these duplicate headings responses to my query will be lost and I might never see it. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Jim Miller Lake Co. surnames: GLEASON & THRASHER
Hi Barb, Thanks for your email. I don't recognize the name Julius in any of the lineage I am researching. I know there were 2 Witte families that lived in the area in 1910 - he may have belonged to the other family. If you ever come across an Ira Witte - please let me know. This man seemed to have disappeared. Thanks again, Denise
Denise, My girlfriend's last name was Witte (an appropriated name from an ex-hubby...lol). His family was from Lake County, IL. He no longer lives in this area, but his brother may. I talked to my girlfriend and she was not familiar with the name Herman J., but mentioned that her ex's grandfather's name was Julius. She also said she was not aware of any ownership of a hotel. Perhaps he has an email address... I can find out if you like, just let me know. Thanks Roger, Denise
Would anyone know where I could possibly find a list of Hotels that were open for business in 1910 in the Antioch - Fox Lake area. Besides the Minneola....... I just received information from a very kind woman on WITTE, Herman J. in 1910: proprietor of a hotel. He lived in Fox Lake at that time. Thanks, Denise
The library should have something like that. 1910 hotels. Roger §

I found this post a day or so ago on the Rutland County, Vermont mailing list. From: [email protected] January 5, 1863 Rutland Herald Marriage JOYSLYN-ROBINSON - At the residence of the brides' father in Pawlet, Vermont, December 12, H. L. Joyslyn of Woodstock, Illinois, and Miss Mary Robinson of Pawlet. (Rutland Herald is online; you can check archives @ http://www.rutlandherald.com) Hope this is of help to Lake and neighboring counties searchers. Sandy
A lot of Lake County folks have Chicago roots. The Chicago Park District discovered over 160 original documents (dating from 1890s to 1920s). The district has posted the list of historical documents for relatives/owners to claim. Unclaimed records will go to the Newberry Library. To view list go to http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/press/58.cfm
