Unfortunately, the first few lines of the article are gone (from the microfilm - looks like they might have been rubbed away). Here is the text of the article: MRS. C. WRIGHT TAKEN BY DEATH; ILL TWO WEEKS Passes Away at Victory Memorial Hospital After Severe Sickness XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.... at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning at Victory memorial hospital, where she had been ill since Sept. 22. Mrs. Wright, a member of a well known family, had been near death for several days, and little hope was held for her recovery. The cause of death was kidney trouble and complications. Specialists from Chicago were called to attend her, but all efforts were unavailing. Aside from her husband, she is survived by a child, Lucille, age 2, and her father, Henry Edwards, and four brothers and a sister, all well known. They are: Russell Edwards, realtor, Circuit Judge C. C. Edwards; John Edwards, Lowe avenue, and Mrs. H. C. Coulson. Mrs. Wright was reared in Waukegan. She was a graduate of the High School class of 1907. Mrs. Wright was born in Avon and moved to Waukegan with her family when a young girl. She was married to Mr. Wright three years ago. ************************************************************************ Since the article states she was born in Avon, I looked in the Avon Cemetery Transcriptions and found the following: AVON CENTRE CEMETERY Lot 104 WRIGHT, Cosie E. Thank you so much as this is the first ever clue I've seen. I would love to have a copy of the obituary of Margaret's friend. I wonder if Margaret had TB as well and also wonder now, if she is buried in the Libertyville Lakeside cemetery...which I once lived next door to while growing up! I am sure her daughter, my mother, had no clue either! This also helps confirm that Margaret was using Pangborn. Someone else sent me her husband Paul's military registration which clearly shows he used Pangborn as well. I am so grateful for your help. Great leads, to say the least! Jayne

I do know that he died in NY somewhere adn she died January 02, 1826. Her maiden name was Holden, and they got married October 29, 1814, but that's about all I have. Someone a long time ago told me to check around Chili, Monroe County, NY for any relatives of his, but I never have. If you would like to check into these two ancestors of mine, please do so. I found a cemetery in Ivanhoe, IL that has at least 50 relatives buried there, so that has all my attention right now. Thanks again so much for your efforts. God bless.

I didn't find one (although that could be because the newspaper is quite confusing in how it publishes articles and obituaries). However, I did find an interesting article where she was mentioned. In the Friday, November 26, 1915 edition of the paper, the following was posted: MRS. HOBAN'S PASSING ON SAME DAY FRIEND IS BURIED Waukegan, Nov. 20 It was a striking coincident that Mrs. Joe Hoban, formerly "Dotsy" Dietmeyer, should die this morning at 1 o'clock, or a few hours previous to the funeral of one of her closest friends, Mrs. Pangburn, nee Margaret Harrison, whose death occurred Tuesday. These two young women, prior to the time Mrs. Hoban went to the county hospital suffering with tuberculosis, were bosom friends. Mrs. Hoban lived on Washington Street, Miss Harrison on Edison Court. They were constantly in each other's company and none was more concerned over Mrs. Hoban's conditition than was her neighbor and friend, Mrs. Pangburn. The article goes on - pretty much an obit about Mrs. Hoban. If you would like, I can send it to you. I was at the library right before it closed, so I didn't have time to look in the published cemetery inscriptions at the library. I can try and do that if you would like. Good luck!

Perhaps there will be some additional information that can help you with your search: SECTION B-EAST Lot 59 SMITH, Clarence 1891-1892 s/Thomas B. & Alma Sidney 1889-1891 s/Thomas B. & Alma Thomas Byron 1849-1916 h/Alma Esther HANDY M.W.A emb; s/Eber H. & Sarah SMITH Alma Ester HANDY 1862-1920 w/Thomas B. SMITH I don't know if the following are related to Alma Esther Handy, but in Lot 60 are the following people: HANDY, Eugenia Louise PUTNAM 1840-1925 w/Samual Dwight HANDY; dau/Daniel & Julia A. PUTNAM PUTNAM, Julia Anna Austin 1816-1909 w/Daniel S. PUTNAM Daniel Sumner 1813-1904 h/Julia A. Austin; s/Daniel & Permelia PUTNAM Then, as for EH Smith and SA Hays, the following information was found: SECTION B-EAST Lot 31 SMITH, Mary Emma Mar 26, 1856 - Apr 4, 1860 dau/Eber H. & Sarah George W. Feb 20, 1858 - Feb 17, 1881 s/Eber & Sarah Smith Eber Holden June 3, 1817 - June 16, 1898 h/Sarah Ann Hays; s/Thomas & Hepsibah SMITH Sarah Ann HAYS June 10, 1819 - Feb 11, 1892 w/Eber H. SMITH So, it looks like TB Smith and AE Handy had two sons that died very young (Clarence and Sidney). EH Smith and SA Hays had two children buried with them (Son George and Daughter Mary Emma). Both of them preceded their parents in death. It looks like Eber Holden Smith's parents names are Thomas and Hepsibah - I didn't look them up to see if they are buried at the same cemetery, but I can if you would like. I hope that this helps

I have not made a contact for a marriage license, however, for Paul and Margaret...yet. I have pulled up similar hits on Paul on the social security sites, too. He is such a mystery! My mother told me he was referred to as a "family friend" for years and her last recollection of him was when she was about 12, which would have been around 1926. Later, she was told that he was her father, which was quite upsetting to her. He vanished and was never heard from family again, or so I've always been told. He was a young guy who served in WWI (I have post cards he wrote to his sisters and photos of him) and when his wife died and he was left with a young child, he simply couldn't handle the responsibilty, apparently. He asked one of his sisters and her husband to adopt my mother. At one time, I heard a comment that he may have gotten! into some trouble in Wisconsin. So, you may be on a trail! Anyway, thanks for your help and advice. I appreciate it very much. Jayne

They have their records posted for that time but her's doesn't show up. From what I understand, it's not complete. Cook County is complete upto 1915 tho'. Chicago is in Cook county and it's the next county south of Lake. McHenry county, which is west of Lake isn't complete. Lake County also is incomplete. But the Lake County Courthouse would have the record if she died in Waukegan or Antioch. You have her exact date of death, is there an obit that goes with that or is that also just family info? Have you tried the Waukegan Library to see if they would look up an obit or a death notice for you? Their website is; www.waukeganpl.org/ . Did you get a copy of their marriage license yet? That should be at the Lake County Courthouse. It may hold more information. Are you aware of the Social Security Death Index, sponsored by RootsWeb? If not, it's located at; http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi . I just put in Paul Scott, born 1893 and came up with 6 hits. You'd probably be better able to pick through them. It might help if you can be more specific on his date of birth. If you find a likely candidate, you can also order his application. Just make sure you're very positive before you order, I think it costs $27 now. Another option might be the NARA Archives in Chicago. If he joined the service, which might be a good possibility, they can help you locate records too. Their website is located at; http://aad.archives.gov/aad/ . You can contact them with questions. I'll keep looking, in the meantime. Please let me know if you come up with any new information. John in Racine
