3. Hi have you try ancestry.com. I found my ancestors probate packet in Mchenry county, it is a little tricky to find it in ancestry. 3. Several years ago I hired a genealogist to try to get me copies of wills and trust agreements, but was told that they were in the index, but misfiled. So, I let it go, and am just now getting around to trying again. Copies of these documents may help the family solve a long time mystery. How can I get copies of these documents? Receiving copies on line would be fine. Great Great Grandfather Francis Alsip, aka Frank Alsip (originator of Alsip Brick Company) was born 17 November 1827 in Pittsburg, Allegheny, PA, and died 20 December 1907 in Chicago, Cook, IL . Great Grandfather, Frank B. Alsip was born McGregor, Clayton, IA and died 4 May 1910 in Chicago, Cook, IL I also have another Great Great Grandfather who drowned in Lake Superior. He was a resident of Chicago. I have never been able to locate a will nor probate for him. He was a druggist, owned his own store, and I suspect he also left a will. His name was Alexander Chartis Bell, born August 1836 in Scotland, and died 13 December 1887. My grandmother was Ruth Elizabeth Alsip, only living child of Frank B. Alsip and Nellie B. Bell Alsip, whom we suspect was a beneficiary of a large bequest as heir to the estate or by trust. Any help you can give me would certainly be appreciated.

I've looked him up several times on Fold3, but there is no definitive information on him. It might be at NARA, but I no longer live anywhere near one of those. From the censuses, I learned this Vincent L. Reed was born in New York, as was my Vincent L. Reed. I'm also aware that there are lots of errors in gravestones (and censuses), but he does appear in the 1850 census as being born in about 1827. Just now I came across a Civil War Draft Registration Record for a Vincent L. Reed, age 36 in 1863, b. New York, and enlisted in the 96th Reg. Illinois Volunteer Infantry. It seems like the two men should be one and the same, IF there was an error on the gravestone. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Many counties did keep local records in their towns but many were recorded with the local churches. Have you tried contacting the Antioch Historical Society? They usually have some good records there that may be of help including newspapers on microfilm from that time frame. Local papers from back then were great gossip rags that are very helpful. I would also try the Antioch library to see if they have some as well. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. ([ILLAKE])St. Mary Catholic Church or any other index Johann Schmitt
    2. Charlotte Flock
    3. HI, I am looking for Johann Schmitt. I have found two records At St. Mary's Catholic Church in Buffalo Grove. That proves that he was in Buffalo grove at this time from. 1864 when he got married and a few years later when he had his first son Joseph from his baptism record. At that time period in the 1864 -1870. What other kind of index are available to find my ancestor name listed. I was thinking of Tax Records. I don't know if there was any City Directories back that far. Maybe some one has a ledger where Johann bought supplies at a store. I am trying to find who he lived next door to. I know that he did not buy land there in Lake County, he purchased his land in McHenry County, IL. Would there be some kind of listing in the newspapers. He could of even showed up on some one's Probate records as a witness. -- <flocks4@junct.com>

Is anyone still reading these? My great grandma is Ann Collins (previously Gaede, maiden name Ambrose) I would LOVE if I could talk to someone regarding this family. Growing up I had always been told my great grandma had been adopted and her sisters Alice and Frannie had been adopted into different families because their parents died in Lithuania in the flu epidemic and this is so completely different than what I had always know to be true. If anyone one still checks this please contact me, I would love to get to the bottom of this!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My name is Tracy Hines Day. I'm the Granddaughter of Frederick Hines (born Oct 1891) and Elsie. My father was his youngest son, Sydney Elliott Hines. I cannot express to you how thrilled I am if we are speaking of the same person. There is no one in my family who knows ANYTHING about Grandpa Hines prior to his arrival in the States! Hope we can travel this great geneology adventure together! I'm quite a novice to this whole platform of Ancestry.com. I am also awaiting results from 23 & Me. Any advice you could provide to expedite us filling in all the "'branches" would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Tracy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She was b. March 2 1919 and d. 27 Jul 2003. Last listed as living in Antioch, Lake, Illinois. Lucille was the last of her direct Dewitt family left living.
