Subject: Henderson Regular Predestinarian Baptist Church Organized August 14, 1830. Gentlemen: A possibility for locating the records of the Henderson Church, which was near Rio (and was the oldest church in Knox County, organized in 1830) would be to find descendants of Mr. Francis (Frank) M. Epperson, who died in 1925. He was one of the last members, I believe, and joined the church at Greenbush after the Henderson church closed. Mr. Epperson's obituary states that he was born on the "old homestead north of Rio, in August 1845, and died at his home in Rio in June 1925. He married Lucinda Bair in Sep 1864, and had eight children, but four of them had died before he did. He married Bellzora Virginia Nash in Mar 1913, who survived him, with four daughters - Mrs. A. R. Landon, Mrs. H. A. Brinkman, Mrs. Roy Dougherty, and Mrs. W. G. Miller, besides 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. If you have any leads on any of these names, I would be glad to follow up on them. We would like to locate the records of this church. Some of its early members were the pioneers of the county, and some were even Revolutionary War veterans.
