Williams, 67, shoe/bootmaker, b. MD Catherine, 58, PA Robert, 24, tailor, OH Daniel, 21, laborer, OH David N., 17, confectioner, OH Ann E., 14, OH Note that Robert Jr and Daniel don't show up in home in 1850. They do appear to be found there in two other homes in 1850, perhaps training for their future professions. Your 1880 census for Galesburg does state Dan & David as brothers in home of Robert. The professions of these men seem to be consistent thru the years also.
