Probably not a son, unless they had decided to keep the father's surname (as many did at that point in time in Sweden). Otherwise, a son would have assumed the surname of Carlsson. Since both of the sons we know about had emigrated to the US in the early 1860s, it would have to be a different son -- one that we don't know about. It's pretty unlikely there is a connection -- but let's keep our eyes open. Thanks for responding. Tom
