Can anyone tell me how I can find out if my ancestor is buried in Yates City? The story that has been handed down in my family says that John M. JORDAN served in the Civil War and survived without causality. However, en route home he reportedly was throwing stones from the flatbed of a moving train and was killed. He was mustered out of the service in 1865 and his residence is listed as Salem Township. I found my JORDAN living in Yates City on the 1860 census, but by the 1870 census the family had "grown up" and the household changed. I live in California and don't know when, if ever, I will have the change to visit the Yates City area. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. John Seymour
