I recently found a website -Illinois Trails, that lists all counties and tells which records are available and how far back. Some are even online but not Knox. This is no problem for me because I live just 15 miles from Galesburg in Henry Co. So I guess it's time for me to visit the courthouse. I've discovered a lot of info within the last week. Was able to confirm that the Brennan/Madden grave in St Joseph's are the parents of Maggie Brennan, 2nd wife of Salvadore Ryan. (Margretta Erickson was his first wife, d.1898) Salvadore's parents were Adam H. Ryan b.Kentucky and Nancy Aldredge b.in Mt Vernon, Indiana. But have hit that brick wall after finding names of GRGRGrandparents. Hopefully if death records on them were filed they might list their parents. Nancy Ryan died in Knox Co also. Adam is buried in Missouri. Thanks again for your responses.
