Rogers Generation No. 1 1. ORLAND B.1 ROGERS was born 1808 in Vermont. He married CHARITY ANN BIRD BROWN, daughter of VALENTINE BROWN and BETHANY SPINK. She was born 1814 in New York. Notes for ORLAND B. ROGERS: In 1850, the Rogers were living in Henderson Township, Knox County, Illinois. The Rogers came to Illinois from Port Byron, New York. George W. Brown, a brother of Charity Ann, the W. stands for Washington, he came to Illinois in July, 1836 and settled in a village called Tylersville nine miles northwest of Galesburg. He was instrumental in having the Rogers come to Galesburg. The Rogers came from New York to Chicago on the Erie Canal. Horses on shore pulled the boat. George W. Brown as to meet them in Chicago with his wagon and horses. Mr. Brown wasn't there. Every morning, Mr. O. Rogers walked out to meet him. One morning, he kept walking and walked all the way to Galesburg. Mr. G.W. Brown finally arrived and picked up Charity Ann and family. Somewhere they passed Mr. Rogers. This George W.
