Illinois. they were married in Monmouth Co. and I have one son listed as IRA SHERMAN on 1900 Perry Co. Fed. census, however, child's recently found birth certificate lists him as EARL LEE SHERMAN-- was a delayed birth cert. filled out by his father--at this point I am not sure which name I am looking for --Ha!! I stumbled across info on your Walter in my search for Harry's grandparents --I chased an Augustus Sherman (actual name Oscar Augustus Sherman) who enlisted in the Civil War in Galesburg and I just received his Civil War file last week. He is a brother to your Walter. I would be happy to share what info. I have, and also if you will contact me privately, I will give you the email for the gentleman who shared Augustus/Walter's family with me --he considers himself a "Sherman Clearing House" and has a VAST amount of Sherman info.
