She was a daughter of John Jode Goss and his first wife whose name may have been Eliza Parker. Louisa's mother apparently died at or soon after Louisa's birth. By her first birthday, Louisa and her sister, Mary Goss, born 1838 in Missouri, were living in Washington County, Iowa with Horace and Jane Wilson. That lists Horace 48 born Maryland, Jane 43 born New York, Andrew J. 24 born New York, James M. 22 born Pennsylvania, Shipley W. 18 born Pennsylvania, Lothrip 16 born Ohio, and Thomas Benton 11 born Illinois in addition to the two Goss girls. Horace Wilson was listed on the 1840 Knox County Illinois census. Does anyone know Jane Wilson's maiden name and whether either Wilson was related to the Goss family?
