Samuel. H. Bishop A farmer, he was born Feb. 24, 1837 in the State of Penn- sulvania, the son of John M. and Jane Elizabeth Bishop, the former a native of New York and the latter of New Jersey. He enjoyed only the advantages of a common school education. He came West to Indiana in 1851, and to Knox County in 1860. he was married Jan. 27, 1864, to Amelia Calkins, and has three sons and one daughter living, and one daughter deceased. He joined the M.
