She married a Mr. Canant (Conant?), who died. Then she married my grandfather, Thomas Jackson Mahaffey. She died in Beaumont, Texas, in about 1929. Neither she nor any of my other grandparents were alive when I came along in 1933. If you have any information about a Payne family that lived in or near Galesburg in 1866, please contact me.
