Louie: My father remembered "Fred Lindstrom" as a baseball player of some repute, and often remarked that, at one time, he was the Postmaster in Galesburg. I cannot give you a time frame for that (and, as is often the case, it might be the product of a fractured memory). Unfortunately, my father has been gone for fourteen years, so I cannot ask him to elaborate. You have also received an excellent suggestion from Ginny -- contact the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Institute at Augustana College in Rock Island. They have collected all of the registers from the Swedish churches in the Midwest and will be very likely to be able to track them. The Swedish church registers will make it very easy to find where in Sweden they came from -- so that is a good bet. You'll find them at: http://www.augustana.edu/administration/swenson/ Good luck!
