Woodford County charges 5.00 to search and then a dollar per record that is not certified. They will hand the book to you and then they must go get the record. Some courthouse do not charge a search fee but they charge 7 to 10 dollars per record. Nothing is free any more. I must say Johnson County Iowa knows how to do it. The public records are in a seperate part of the room and you can search to your hearts content, then you write down every thing you need and they get it for you at a nominal charge for copying the material certified does cost more and if you deal by mail it is 10.00 a record and if they can't find it they keep the money for research time.
