Tyson, I checked Iowa state census for 1885. Your McCoy family has now moved to Wright Co, Iowa, living on section 14 of Blaine township. There is another son born, John, b. abt 1881 in Illinois. 1910 census for Wright co shows Adam, Harmon & John McCoy as heads of households, all in Vernon township, all born IL. So I think this is surely your right McCoy family.
