Hi Thanks for the info and I also connected her with a lady who she should be related to. and she has info I sent her and I gave her all the info for the IL STate archives People looking for their civil war veterans can now get most of the information online by going to the IL State Archives for Civil War vets,. do a search for your Veteran and when your name comes up click on their name and a page opens for that person giving when they enlisted, under, years served and such. I really like the new format and then you can also send to them and ask for the papers. Doesn't cost anything and only takes a couple of weeks to get it depending on how many they have to do at the time. http://www.ilsos.gov/genealogy/ The link above should take right to this place. I generally just put in the last name and then I get who I am searching for. Have a wonderful day everyone. Warming up nicely in Knox co., IL. I checked for Joel Elwell and found a record which had been submitted on him and his wife, Mary Yaryan and a son Joel Coombs Elwell. You can check this out by going to www.lds.org . I also checked the catalog for court records of Illinois, but did not find wills for Knox County. Also, you might check the Illinois Statewide Marriage Indez which is on line. I have found several marriages there. You can find it by going to Google and putting in marriages in Illinois. I hope this is of some help to you.
