For many years, I have tried to find a LEWIS family that began in KY, migrated to MO by 1826, and then disappeared. Through the recently released 1880 census I have finally tracked them down to Knox Co., IL. There were four siblings: Emerine, Samuel M., Andrew Whitley and Christopher Columbus LEWIS. The 1880 census lists the brothers; Emerine is still missing. Samuel M. LEWIS married Sarah E. BROADDUS 23 Nov 1848 in McDonough Co., IL. Census (Abingdon) shows children John B, Emma B, Irene, William H, Ada, Lucy V, and Clara LEWIS. (May have been more children). Andrew Whitley LEWIS married Arthusa L. NANCE 1 Aug 1858, Fulton Co., IL. Two children shown on census (Abingdon): William N and Edgar W. LEWIS. Arthusa Nance Lewis married Henry HYATT in 1891, McDonough Co., IL Christopher Columbus LEWIS married Julia PERRY 15 Jan 1852, McDonough Co., IL. Five children shown on census (Cedar): Mary A, Henry P, Vesper, Charles and Myra LEWIS. Love to hear from anyone connected to this LEWIS family. Always looking for new cousins! Thank you very much, Elizabeth Laird N. California
