Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/10904 Surname: ATKINSON, ADKINSON, ADKISON ------------------------- Hi Bud, I haven't worked on this line for awhile so it is nice to find that their is a response and that I can get to it timely. Jane Chance was indeed one of James Jessie's three wives. Seems they kept dying on him. Elizabeth Harper was one of his wives also. I will have to look through my papers to get you the name of the other one. Please tell me how you are related. I am a direct descendant of James Jessie through my mother's father, Glenn William Adkisson. James Jessie would be my GGG-Grandfather. Here is what I know of him: James M. "Jessie" Atkinson/Adkinson/Adkisson He signed his name with an "X" He was born April 15, 1829 in Glasco, KY His family may have been among the first pioneers to Knox Co. as history says that most of them came from KY. However, I do not know when they arrived for a fact. He married Elizabeth Harper on Jan. 30, 1853 (1st of 3)in Knox County, IL. She was born on Mar. 26, 1831. I don't know how she died but she was pretty young. James "Jessie" died on April, 25, 1908 in St. Augustine IL and he was buried at the Babbitt Cemetery which if I am correct is in Fulton,Co. IL. Elizabeth was buried in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Abingdon which is in the Knoxville area. I will have to check to see if I have information on the other wives. I do believe that I have a picture of Jessie with Jane Chance. It is only a photocopy though unfortunately. According to my records, James "Jessie's" parents were Andrew Atkinson b. Nov. 14th 1801 in SC m.Jan 11, 1830 in Warren Co., KY and d. 1879 and is buried in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Abingdon, IL. His mother was Millie Lomax who was born in c.1810 in Warren, KY. She is supposed to be buried in the Cherry Grove Cemetery also. Andrew Atkinson's father might be William Addison who fought in the Revolutionary War but that is not certain. Millie Lomax's parents were Elijah Lomax and Rachel Hiatt. If you would like to see a pedigree on all of these people you should go to familysearch.com and do an "ancestral search" and put in the name "Robert Ananius Adkisson" who was born 1 Nov 1853. Find him and then go to his pedigree. It will lay all of this out for you to see. The Lomax pedigree goes on farther. I can share with you family group records too or you can get them off the familysearch.com site. We are lucky that this line has been researched. Please let me know your relation and in the meantime I will try to find out more on Jane Chance and the other wife. Cathy Burke-Overland Park, KS-cburke1@kc.rr.com
