According to the Knox County Illinois Gazeteer by Rex Cherington 1983, Walnut Creek is a tributary to Spoon River, which flows through Walnut Grove and Lynn Townships. There is also a Walnut Grove Cemetary in section 21, Walnut Grove Twp. Possibly the church was located nearby.
