Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/10903 Surname: Barnard, Davis, Hall ------------------------- Norma, I'm also searching Barnard in Knox County, but I don't think our lines are connected. Mine are "Andr..." Barnard (can't read end of name in census), b. abt 1828 and his wife Ann Davis Barnard b. abt 1827. Both from England, and living in Galesburg in 1850. Then "he" disappears, and Ann remarries David E. Hall in 1858. (I descend from this second marriage). However, I have a couple small items that could possibly give you a clue. I copied some names from censuses, and had included a William Barnard family (that I've now figured I don't connect with). This is the meager data I had: In Rio Twp., in 1855 State Census there is: William Barnard 1 male 50-60 3 females under 10 1 female 10-20 1 female 30-40 Then in 1860, in Rio Township in Dwelling # 1585: William Barnard, age 61 farmer, $1600, b. (can't read it) Nancy Barnard, age 44, b. (can't read it) Sarah Barnard, age 14, b. IL Susan Barnard, age 10, b. IL Marinda Barnard, age 7, b. IL LaFaette Hall, age 10, laborer, b. Mich I suppose Sarah, Susan, and Marinda could be the "3 females under 10" in the 1855 entry. And your Louisa Ellen could have been the "female 10-20" in 1855 census, but by 1860 she married, and isn't listed with her parents anymore. I'm making guesses here. Hope this gives you a new clue.
