A place to look for Oregon information is http://oregon.gov/OSL/GRES/genealogy.shtml. That address will reach a volunteer for genealogical society at the state library. There may be Benton Co. cemetery book, or other materials there, or contacts. I don't know if there's a genealogy society in Philomath, but there would be in Corvallis, the county seat. I believe I've heard there's a genealogy collection in Philomath, maybe at the museum. The Corvallis library should have microfilmed old newspapers. The University of Oregon library has had a project of filming all the Oregon newspapers they could get access to. One copy of the film was given to the library or community, I believe. That is my reason for saying there should be filmed Benton paper in Corvallis. I live east of Salem, haven't had occasion to go to the Corvallis area for a number of years. Helen
