I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as August JOHNNSON which was taken at the Bauman Studio in Galesburg, Illinois. The photograph looks to have been taken in the 1880's with August likely in his 20's at the time. The name is spelled with 2 "N"s on the back of the photograph, however, I believe it is likely JOHNSON. In addition to his name someone has written "My Mother's Brother or My Uncle" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I believe this may be a photograph of August JOHNSON the son of Nels D. & Ellen JOHNSON who were living in Galesburg, Illinois during the 1880 census. The family included three children, August age 12, Emma age 6, and Charles age 4. The census information lists Nels D. age 46 born in Sweden, Ellen age 46 also born in Sweden, and August born in Sweden. The two younger children are listed as born in Illinois so I'm assuming that the family immigrated sometime between 1868 and 1874. Nels was listed as a Broom Maker by trade. I'm hoping to locate someone from this JOHNSON Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family.
