My 3rd great-grandmother, Isabella (MAPPS) POWELL, was the older sister of Mary Jane. From my understanding, William Bell was b. 4 May, 1825, in Cumberland co., PA, and d. 10 Feb., 1886, in Knox co., IL. Mary Jane was b. 20 Aug., 1829, in Cumberland co., PA, and d. 14 Apr., 1908, in York co., NE. According to her death certificate, she was removed to Knoxville, IL, for burial. I know of one son, W. H. MCELWAIN, whom Mary Jane appeared to have lived with in York co., NE.
