Posted on: Knox Co. Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/851 Surname: TIPTON, ROWLAND ------------------------- I am trying to determine whether a deed for 160A from Thomas Rowland of Knox Co. Tennessee to a Reuben Tipton is recorded in deeds of Knox Co. IL. The sale of this land is acknowledged in a Tennessee court item in 1824, without specifying the IL county where it is located. However, it is for 160A in the court item, and I speculated that it might have been bounty land for 1812 service. I checked BLM recotds and found a 160A patent to a Thomas Rowland (location of residence unspecified) with that land falling in Knox Co. IL. I am hoping that a deed from Thomas Rowland to Reuben Tipton might survive in Knox Co. IL records, allowing me to tie my Tennessee Thomas Rowland to 1812 service. Also, there might be a deed where Reuben Tipton sells this land. Does anyone know whether or not the deed records for this period survive? Thanks! --Carl
