Myrick was 43 years old when he died on 13 Sep 1869. At the time of his death he was the husband of Mary Jane nee Buffington DOB 15 Mar 1828. Data from the 1850 and 1860 census indicate that both of these individuals were born in the State of Indiana. Mary Jane's tombstone indicates that she was born in Dearborn County, IN. Both Samuel and Mary Jane are buried in the Haynes Cemetery which is located near Delong, Illinois in Knox County, Illinois. 2. Samuel and Mary Jane were married 30 Nov 1846 at Lawrenceburg, IN. They had no known children, but Samuel's will indicates that they raised, and perhaps adopted, a boy named George Myrick. 3. At the time of the 1850 census the Myricks lived in the household of Joseph Churchill (DOB ca 1798 VT) His wife Mary and their eight children and apparently seven hired hands. 1850, Sparta, Dearborn, Indiana; Roll: m432_141; Page: 451. 4. At the time of the 1860 census the Myricks lived in Knox County, Illinois. Living in their household were George W. Myrick, age 2, and Hannah Buffum[ I suspect this to be Hannah Buffington DOB 1785 VA or PA], age 67, the mother of Mary Jane Myrick. 1860; Orange, Knox, Illinois; Roll: m653_195; Page::699. 5. Since a number of Myricks are listed as heads of household within the State of Vermont, and Mr. Churchill gives a native state of Vermont, I am curious as to whether there was some familial connection between Samuel M. Myrick and Joseph Churchill. Information on the antecedents of either family would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
