Thank You so much for your kind offer to do lookups while you are at the library. I don't know if what I am asking is possible as I do not know the exact death date of my great grandfather, James Buchanan Welliver and I have tried to find out with no luck. I know this doesn't follow the guidelines of requesting help but if while you are at the library if you can find anything in reference to my Welliver family I would appreciate it so very much. I live in California a long way away. I do know that my Great Grandfather James Buchanan Welliver was the son of Jacob and Hannah Welliver and there is a Welliver family plot in the old Mann Cemetery, now called Mt. Vernon cemetery in North Henderson. A wonderful lady who volunteered for Headstone Hunters, once traveled to the cemetery for me and took pictures of my Welliver families headstones for me. At the time she was there she suspected there were more headstones that were missing and maybe one was that of my Great Grandfather James Buchanan Welliver, husband of Anna Alice Welliver. I do know that James B. Welliver was born in 1858 in Ohio. His parents Jacob and Hannah (Holmes) were both from Columbia County, Pennsylvania. I would greatly appreciate any Welliver information that you may come across. Below Obituary of Anna Alice "Olson" Welliver is my Great Grandmother, Anna Alice "Olson" Welliver's obituary. Her son William "Will" Welliver was my Grandfather, he served in WWI and died just 5 months before my Mom was born from being shot during the war. That was December 23, 1923, so putting this family history together is especially dear to me. If you come across anything about Olof or Christina Olson I would sure appreciate any information as I know little about them also. They also resided in Knox County. October 21, 1941 Galesburg Register Mail Mrs. Anna Welliver Dies Here Monday Mrs. Anna Welliver, 81 Bandy Avenue, died Monday afternoon at 5:30 O'clock in Galesburg Cottage Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Welliver, daughter of Olof and Christina (Hawkinson) Olson, natives of Sweden, was born in Knoxville, March 18, 1859. Later moved to the North Henderson neighborhood and later to Aledo where she was married to James B. Welliver in July 1880, whose death occurred in 1927. (In the 1920 federal census I find James and Anna in Galesburg) The mother of eight children, Mrs. Welliver is survived by four. They are Mrs. Grace Adcock, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Nora Linderholm, Oneida, Mrs. James Kelley and Roy Welliver, both of Sacramento, Ca. One son Will died in St. Paul, Dec. 23, 1923. The other children died in infancy. There are nine grandchildren. Definite funeral arrangements have not been made while the family here awaits word from those in California. Friends may call at the Dean Funeral home on Wednesday afternoon and evening. I don't know if this will help but any information would sure be appreciated. Hi Kathy, Am I that person you speak of here????? Been a while and things been pretty busy around here lately. I'm finally doing my own family history and finding it super duper in doing it. still a little for others will email you more later and hope you and your family are doing great. I'm still out and about taking tombstone photos. My daughter and I went to tombstone rubbing class at Rock Island at a Historic Cemetery and learned how to do that. It was fun only lasted a couple of hours and I ended we stayed in that cemetery and took photos for over two hours and also the Calvaery Cemerty at the back of it. and then on the way back home took photos of the Alpha Cemetery and another along the way. I ended up by taking 1087 tombstone photos that day. My husband couldn't believe it. but then neither could I. But we had so much fun my daughter Kate & I. She even did a rubbing by herself. now am going to get some of that stuff to have in my supplies when out and about in the cemeteries. have a wonderful day. Kathy, I checked the Mercer CO cemetery index and it shows a J.B. Welliver is buried in Mt. Vernon cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmercer/cem2/mtvernon/w-z The index does not give the dates but there is a lookup volunteer who may have the info. The lookup connection is noted at the top of the page. It is possible that the cemetery info will have exact date of death or the burial date. Since your James died in 1927, I find it odd that he is not found on the Illinois death index 1916-1950. Perhaps he died out of state for some reason.
