    3. Does Charles R. Herren mention the surname NEVITT in his memoirs? The Nevitts lived in Knox County and Whiteside County in that time period. Clement Nevitt went to the gold fields of California and is listed there in the 1850 census. Is it possible that Charles and Clement were in the same group that left for the gold fields?
