She is survived by a son, Drew (and Barbara) Ferris of Galesburg, IL, three daughters, Joann Ferris of Marion, IL, Mary S. Ferris of Galesburg, IL and Karen Ruth Nichols of CA, a brother, Daniel (and Lucille) Cole of Galesburg, IL, two sisters, Ruth Coleman of Brookfield, WI and Edna Paap of AR and six grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. She worked at the Galesburg State Research Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1983. Memorial services will be 1:30 PM Thursday March 28, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. 3. My search continues in Galesburg for info on my great grandmother and her family. The great grand kids of HENRY MURPHY are FERRIS'. There may still be some in Galesburg. They may be DREW, MARY, JOANN and KAREN Ferris. First off, do these names ring any bells? Second is there some way I can contact them or they can contact me? Any help appreciated. Other than he was from OBs mothers side. After Fred passed there was another partner for a short time. (Don't know name) The two sons took the business over around 1902. O B was Orson Bartlett Judson. I recently foud a news article on another site about a fire that damaged the shop part in 1887 on another Knox county site. I have bits & pieces I am trying to put info together while it is still out there for my sons.

The address was # 15 & 16 Research is a little hard as I am in VA. Am a little confused as to whose will you researched. I assume OBs as he passed in Dec. 1923 but he had passed the business to his sons shortly after the turn of the century?? Also I am trying to find out when it closed.

Surnames: Judson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4g.2ADE/2158.1 Message Board Post: Quite a number of years ago I did a little research on this business. It was located on the north side of Galesburg's Public Square. At that time I was trying to verify that the existing building on the northeast quadrant of the Public Square was the building from 1861. This is where Joe the Tailor is now located. That area was devestated by fire in 1861, ironically, the same night that Fort Sumter was fired upon. Nearly as I can tell the existing building does date from 1861. I did not copy the estate probate file but it was interesting and you may wish to contact the Knox County Clerk of the Circuit Court, Probate Division and obtain a copy. One thing the estate included was hearse and the coffin stands, so they followed the typical 19th c. pattern where cabinetmakers and furniture dealers took care of the funerals. Sorry I won't have anything else to offer, but your question triggered a few thoughts.

We talk about a lot so we tend to jump from family to family but this is what I managed to write down last time we spoke. "Orin" Curtis Maner - US NAVY Thomas "Ralph" Maner - US Marines WW2 "Larry" Keith Maner - (I don't have a note by his name, not sure if it was an oversight?) "Kenneth" (Kenny) Brinkley Maner - US Army Arthur "ART" MANER - (I'm pretty sure he was in the military, but don't see a note as to what branch) I'm wonder if anyone is aware of a Veterans Memorial in Williamsfield, IL. that maybe transcribed or online? Thank you, Rebecca Maner Dallas, TX beckymaner@tx.rr.com
