The picture is from a distant relative of mine who passed away in 1985. This relative lived in Galesburg from around 1925 until the time of her death. She babysat for many families in the area and I assume this baby picture was a gift from one of those families. I assume this picture was taken around 1930? 3. Elayne, you are right; that was a typo - Robert W. Combs was born 22 Nov. 1796. Sorry. Thank you for your offer to look at the 1860 census, but apparently you are right, it is another Rachel Shreeves, mine, born (ca. 1848) in IL. I did not have an exact date. And re: Rachel Shreeves, again you probably are right. In looking at my records again, I see that mine married Henry C. Ross. (I am visually impaired and misread the name Ross for Rose). Although I am now unable to find the messages, there were two other researchers who mentioned Mary Ann Combs in connection to the above Rachel Shreeves. So, apparently in error, I put the two (Rachel Shreeves and Mary Ann Combs) together and thought I had the Rachel that had been requested. I am sorry, please put it down to a "senior" moment. - Marna - --------------------------------- Elayne Roberts wrote: > In checking the 1860 Census for Rachael Shreeves, the Rachael born in 1848 > was in McDonough County and was the daughter of William (age 46) and > Catharine (age 45) Shreeves so I am wondering if this is the right person. > and Henry C. 3. Hi, - I am both a SHREEVES and COMBS researcher. I have two Rachel Shreeves, one as mentioned above, married to Henry C. Rose. I have her birth date as "ca 1848" in IL - and married in 1860; however if those marriage dates are correct, she would only be about 11 when married. So guess that is questionable. Father; Asa Shreeves (b. 2 Feb. 1806). However, I have her siblings born from 1840 to 1856, so I guess she could have been born closer to 1840. ======= The other RACHEL SHREEVES that I have was the daughter of THOMAS SHREEVES (1783) Pr. Geo. Co., MD; and RACHEL GRAY (1787) Bedford Co., PA - who were the parents of ASA. I have a great deal of information on the SHREEVES. Thomas and Rachel Shreeves were my third-great grandparents. - and I have a couple of generations further back than that. =============== MARY ANN COMBS was the second of ASA SHREEVES three wives. They had six children together. She was the daughter of ROBERT W. COMBS (22 Nov. 1706) either Greenbriar, VA or Highland Co., OH; and MARTHA PARKER (13 Dec. 1797) in PA. I also have data on the COMBS. Robert W. Combs and Martha Parker were my great-great grandparents. I also have Combs data. I hope this is of help to someone; I have other information that I would be glad to share. - Marna - gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: bettyaon340 > Surnames: SHREEVES, ADAMS > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.knox/3828/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am looking for the family of my husband great grandmother, Rachel Sheeves, who married Henry C. 3. Chris, I just got your posting about your Combs. I have an Esther Combs born 1797 NJ, married Abraham Elwell 1816 in Indiana and died 1887 in Knox Co IL. Any chance she is in your Combs. Unfortunately I don't know much about her yet, but I would love to find someone else with this line. Their son, Joel, also died in Knox Co just before his family was to leave for Kansas. Hopefully, Carol Anne

Is there an Almon Bartlett? I see him in the 1870 Rio, Knox County census. My GGrandmother, Jennie Barnard, was working for him as a domestic. Do you have more on him?
