There is a Lawrence and Mary Ann Riley living in the neighborhood two doors down from Michael & Bridget Godsil in 1880. They are the same age as Margaret could be cousins. Their first 3 kids were born in PA and somewhere I have ran across the Scully family there something about working the coal mines. I will have to try to trace this..The reason I wonder about the parents William & Mary Godsil, family rumor has it he came to visit after being 100 and died at 117. My gggrandfather Patrick does go back to ireland in 1902?? to possible settle estate?? But there is a Mary Godsil living by herself in the "neighborhood" in 1880 at age 64 (the right age) and listed as a widow. She would be to old to be Maurice's widow Mary. Thanks for your time. She was born after Margaret died. She remembers talk of a "Riley" coming over maybe with Margaret & Maurice. Margaret's parents did not want her to marry Edmond. They did not think he was good enough. She did not know any info on Margaret's parents. Unfortunately, when she was growing up the adults did not talk much about the old country and did not like to answer questions. She heard that Edmond was raised by 2 maiden aunts that ran something like a sea-side resort but not sure if this is true. The reference to the number of children living was based on the US Census questions (mother of how many children/ How many living?). The daughters names I know are: Mary J.; Almeda A.; Sarah M.; Harriet Emma; Jerusha and Alvira A. I found names in the various census years, but I don't know which of the above are the ones still living in 1900. I am more interested in discovering more about his parents than his daughters. But if this helps arrive at a connection with someone who can help me go further up the tree, then that's great. Cheers Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: CMcKitrick5694 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.knox/475.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Joseph Forshey was in Licking County in 1850 with his new wife. What documentation do you have that Thomas Forshey Sr. was married to a Catherine Elizabeth. Sutherland Cemetery has a headstone for Elizabeth-Wife of Thomas that died in 1832 at 75. Thomas and Catherine kept selling land until 1834(Gateway to the West and Volume C of Monroe Deeds.)(Thomas Forshey and Catherine to Benj. McVay Jr.) It seems more likely that Thomas Sr. was married to Elizabeth and Thomas Jr. was married to a Catherine. Other documentation shows that Thomas Sr. was in Muskingum County in 1832 filing for a Rev. War pension. He was probably living with his daughter Mary Reynolds. I know he came back later but his pension papers mentioned children but no wife. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
