    3. Mary, I have not seen a date of the newspapers in Knox county. I would be grateful if you could find an obit for James Darnell who died 8 February, 1850 I am in need of his wife, Mary's maiden name. I am reasoning that his obit would be more apt to tell who he married. Her name was Mary who died earlier, 2 June 1843 in Knox county. Both are buried Uniontown cemetery. It is so kind of you to offer lookups. 3. I was able to get a maiden name of my great grandfather's mother from a marriage cert but according to the lady up at the courthouse I don't think they have them before 1868 or so. I can ask but I think that is the date they told me. 3. Mary - I would really appreciate an obit for Harriet (Cummings) Berry, who died 20 Nov 1905. She is buried in Galesburg, but in 1900, she was living in Bird City, Kansas. I'd like to know where she died - and anything else, of course. Thank you so much. Whilst I cannot help with descendants of your Buffum (I don't have access to US records from here in UK), I can help with considerable detail on Matilda's peers and ancestors. My Father's aunt married Matilda's cousin Alfred. First, Edwin Hartry was born Wells, Somerset; it is likely that Caroline was also born in the same town, they could both have taken off to Bristol to get married, lots of couples did that. I am intrigued to know how you obtained their exact birth dates - that is only rarely available for pre 1837 births in the UK - presumably from a death record or family bible? Edwin was one of at least 6 children born to Richard Hartry who originated from Bruton Somerset. Two of Edwin's brothers also emigrated to the US. You do not say if you are descended from Matilda's first child Jim Bell or from her subsequent marriage to Buffum. I am also confused about the apparent lack of information post 1900 - I assume you have checked the census up to 1930? If you can give me your e-mail over the private link I will happily share Matilda's ancestry with you, if you still want it.
