    3. Posted on: Knox Co. Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/767 Surname: Hawkinson, Kitchen ------------------------- I'm interested in finding out more about Gerda Hawkinson Kitchen who lived in Galesburg, in Knox county when she died after being shot by a burglar in her home. I would like to find more relatives in this area who could give me any info on her life. She was married to Bill Kitchen. She had three sisters:Agnes, Olga & Ethel and her father was John Hawkinson who was from Sweden. My father was around 3 years old when Gerda died, so it must have happened around 1930. My father passed away in 1978 and I have few people to ask about the mother my father barely knew and the grandmother I've always been curious about. My father's name was John Kitchen. Thanks, Debra Kitchen Sudjian

    2. Re the Byram surname - - there was a Byram family in Abingdon, Knox County, in the 50-60s, that I am aware of and surely before that. The father was Main Byram and he had two daughters I am aware of - I went to school with one, Caroline - she has married and lives in Calif. The other dau. Patience may be in the Galesburg area, as I believe that is where is Mrs. Main Byram lives. Main owed a farm east of Abingdon on the hard road. GoodLuck, Jim Ferris

    2. Hello, Thank you for your kind response about BYRAM, CHRISTIANER, and CRAWFORD. I tell myself that finding no information is just as important as finding some, just not as much fun! I don't know why people weren't where they were supposed to be! I wonder if your book, "Cemetery Records of Knox County", includes Indian Point Township? The CHRISTIANERs are listed on an 1870 census extract as residing in Indian Point Twp. They also show an infant daughter, Etta C CHRISTIANER, whom I presume did not reach adulthood. She is not shown in the "Portrait and Biographical Album of Knox County", 1886. It seems that she should be buried near there if not her mother. I believe that the BYRAMs you found are descendants of Robert and Edward, brothers of my Lewis BYRAM. I could be wrong on the CRAWFORD connection. I based my belief on the fact that "Mary CRAWFORD" signed as guardian on my g-grandfather's marriage application. His mother was living at that time and my guess was that Mary LUCAS BYRAM had become Mary CRAWFORD. Thank you, again. I appreciate your work. --Jack Trauth

Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/759 Surname: Vimmergren, Wimmergren, Wemmergran, Beye ------------------------- Trying to learn something - anything - about my ggrandfather, Axel Emil Andreas VIMMERGREN (WIMMERGREN, WEMMERGREN), b. March, 1868, emigrated from Kristdala, Sweden in 1872 with parents Nils Magnus, mother Maja Lisa and brothers Carl Viktor (Victor) and Nils August. I understand the family settled in Galesburg, Knox County. Sometime before 1895 Axel married Lenora (Nora) BEYE, b. Oct. 1872, Pennsylvania. I'm not certain of her parents, but suspect her father was either August Earnest BEYE or Andrew Frederick BEYE. Since Axel and the Beye family all show up on the Kansas state census in 1895, I suspect Lenora and Axel met and married when the Beyes traveled through Knox County on their way to Kansas. Many thanks for any help.

    1. [ILKNOX-L] Correction
    2. Hello, agian, Thank you, Joan Achille, for responding and correcting me. I will try to engage my brain before turning my computer on! You are right. "The History of Knox County", 1878, and "Portrait and Biographical Album of Knox County", 1886, agree on Jane Christianer's maiden name. It was McMillan or McMillen. McKinnie was her mother's maiden name and I slipped a cog. The inquiry should have read: I am seeking source information or a look-up for cemetery inscriptions in Knox County. In particular, I am looking for information about three gg-grandparents who lived in Abingdon or that vicinity. Jane E McMillan CHRISTIANER, b May 30, 1827, Mercersburg, Franklin Co, PA. I believe she was alive in 1886. She was survived by her husband, Frederick Christianer, who later moved to Iowa. Her family was traditionally Presbyterian in PA. His traditional family records were in Lutheran and German Baptist churches. I don't know what their church affiliation may have been in Abingdon. Lewis BYRAM, b Apr 23, 1821, Greenfield, Highland Co, OH, d Aug 22, 1862, Abingdon, Knox Co, IL. Traditionally, the Byram family was Presbyterian in Ohio. Mary Lucas BYRAM CRAWFORD (?), b Mar 18, 1822, Greenfield, Highland Co, OH, d unknown. I believe Mary was alive in 1898. I also think that she remarried, to a Mr CRAWFORD, after the death of Lewis Byram. Traditionally, the Lucas family was Presbyterian in Ohio. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, --Jack Trauth
