I don't know where he was born, at this point. But I do know that he died Jan 27 1890, in Knox County, Illinois. He had the following relatives: R. Swart Frankfort, Kansas, John D. I have the Higgenson book and it is fine, the pictures are not as nice as the ones in the original 1886 that I have, but it is not falling apart. The 1886 needs rebound and shouldn't be used really, I can't make any copies from it, too fragile. It is different than the Atlas which I have found very helpful, that you can get from the Knox county Genealogy Society, if you find someone there, you can see where their land was and if they were a subscriber, it says where they were born, it is full of nice clues. I have a used copy of a reproduction of the 1878 History of Knox Co. which is good. I'm not familiar with the Atlas; what does it consist of (how many pages, etc.)? pat >Has anyone seen a reprint of the 1878 History of Knox County from Higginson >Books? Bob, A wonderful site to find information on genealogical publications is the online catalog of the Allen Co. Library which is located in Ft. Wayne Indiana. I just logged on and got 50 hits on Knox, County, Illinois. Thanks for the information everyone about the Knox Co. Book. Much appreciated. love, judy
I forget how this thread started on Copley, anyone interested might enjoy reading a book,THE THIN GOLD WATCH. It is about the Copley family and the founding of the newspaper chain but traces the family from Knox Co. to Aurora, IL to San Diego. It has some mistakes, one I recall was confusing Ira Copley and Isaac Copley but anyone who knows the family history will catch the mistakes. Rex

The 1878 History of Knox Co., IL. was reprinted in 1974. I'm not sure if there are any left to sell. Hi Judy, I don't know if the book has been reprinted. Just have the original book in our library here in NM. Joan :o)
Hi, I was contacted earlier this morning by: Broup10@aol.com In case you are not in contact with her--she is also connected to George Dunbar. :o) Joan
Do you have anything on Clara Beckman Johnson, b 10 Jan 1842, married to Lars Johnson, b 17 Nov 1841, d 9 1870. They were married on 7 Feb 1867, had two children, Caroline, b 20 Dec 1867 and Marin about 1870? I believe Clara worked as a seamstress to support her two children until her death in 1880. Thanks, JudyByJudy
How do I get a copy of the 1878 Knox County History Book. Has it been reprinted? Thanks, JudyByJudy
Dear Joan, Thanks very much for the George Dunbar info. I really appreciate it. Diane S.
Rambos go way back to early 1600's in America in PA. Ann Rambo married one of the Norths whose decendents ended up in Knox County. Susan
I checked BACON AND ALLIED FAMILIES P. 212 for the names of the children of Reuben and Charity Haptonstall Rambo and they did not have a Harvey. They had twin daughters born the same year, though. Sorry I could not be of more help. At least one of the three possibilities can be eliminated. Rex At 11:00 AM 11/5/2000 -0800, you wrote: >Posted on: Knox Co.
