    1. [ILKNOX-L] Book Availability?
    2. Hello, I am trying to find a copy of what is apparently a limited edition book. A friend has described the book and indicated that it has no publisher's name. This is all I know about the book: "Kith and Kin, Byram - Crawford Genealogy" by Eunice Byram Roberts 1962 330 pages, hardbound To my knowledge, my Byrams were in Indian Point Twp, vic Abingdon. I would guess the same is true for the author although, I suppose, she could be from Warren County. Her parents were Lemuel Wade Byram and Margaret Amanda Crawford. She must have been an avid genealogist to have written a 330 page book! I would appreciate knowing of any genealogy library or public library in the vicinity which might have a copy. Does anyone know of a Knox County printer who could have produced a hard bound book of that magnitude? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. --Jack Trauth

Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Knox/833 Surname: Jones, Walkers ------------------------- Barb: Thanks so much for your response, the info, and the offer for more information and a picture! I'd love to take whatever you offer, either at e-mail dennis.tierney@att.net or I can send you my address. Melville and Mary's son, Charles, married Nellie Elkins 12/17/1889 in Knox County (source: the Illinois Regional Archives Depository at WIU, Macomb). One of their kids (they had 9) was my grandmother Bessie. I think Charles moved his family to the Chicago area in the 1910s or 1920s, something about union agitation that he was on the wrong side of, loaded up the family belongings on a street car from Joliet. I have a picture of Bessie at age 16, of Charles and his wife, Nellie Elkins at their 50th wedding anniversary. Charles and Nellie had kids Charles, Dan, Minnie, Bertha, Bessie ...sorry, records at hand dont have the rest, but I can get them if you are interested. Check out Familysearch.org for Walker history, if interested. My most recent search activity was spurred by Bessie's report that "her family" provided (gave? sold? exchanged for tuition?) some of the land at Knox College. Bessie died 7 years ago, so I can't ask for clarification; don't know if it was Jones or Elkins family -- recognize the story from the Jones side? In this quest, I called Knox College and spoke with an archivist who mentioned the book Knox County History, 1878, which has a piece on Conley Jones (farmer with 800 acres). She is sending me a photocopy of the biography. Would like to see the book to see if Walkers, Finks, Elkins, etc are mentioned. Please respond by e-mail. Thank you!

    1. [ILKNOX-L] SEARCH FOR RECORDS: HENDERSON CHURCH, RIO, KNOX CO.
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Subject: Henderson Regular Predestinarian Baptist Church Organized August 14, 1830. Gentlemen: A possibility for locating the records of the Henderson Church, which was near Rio (and was the oldest church in Knox County, organized in 1830) would be to find descendants of Mr. Francis (Frank) M. Epperson, who died in 1925. He was one of the last members, I believe, and joined the church at Greenbush after the Henderson church closed. Mr. Epperson's obituary states that he was born on the "old homestead north of Rio, in August 1845, and died at his home in Rio in June 1925. He married Lucinda Bair in Sep 1864, and had eight children, but four of them had died before he did. He married Bellzora Virginia Nash in Mar 1913, who survived him, with four daughters - Mrs. A. R. Landon, Mrs. H. A. Brinkman, Mrs. Roy Dougherty, and Mrs. W. G. Miller, besides 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. If you have any leads on any of these names, I would be glad to follow up on them. We would like to locate the records of this church. Some of its early members were the pioneers of the county, and some were even Revolutionary War veterans.
