Kathy: "Håkan" (pronounced "HOE kahn") is a male Swedish given name, most common in southern Sweden. According to the Swedish patronymic naming system, "Håkansson" means "son of Håkan." This name has often been Anglified to become "Hawkinson" or "Hokanson." Tom Lundeen

Me too, I am Katherine after my Grandmother but hers was spelled with a C. Thank You so much for writing. Yes, it does appear that we have the same Linderholm family. My Great Aunt was Nora Welliver, sister of my Grandfather William "Will" Welliver. He died when my Grandmother Catherine was 5 months along carrying my Mom. He was shot in World War I in the neck and kept getting infection and was only 32 years at the time of his death. They were two of the eight children that were born to James Buchanan & Anna Alice "Olson" Welliver. Of course I didn't get to know or meet him and his wife, My Grandmother Catherine died 3 years before I was born too. I wanted to find out about our Welliver ancestry and that is how I found out that Nora was one of his sisters. A nice volunteer in Mercer County looked up her obituary for me and sent it to me a while back. Galesburg Register Mail February 11, 1980 Mrs. Nora Linderholm Mrs. Nora Linderholm, 87, died Friday at 4:30 P.M. in the Galesburg Convalescent Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1893 in Illinois, and married David Linderholm, who died in 1965. There are no survivors. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitations. Hinchlif-Pearson-West Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Do you have a picture of David & Nora? Thank You so much for the Linderholm family information. I wonder where the name of David "Hokan" Linderholm came from? It is different and probably has a special meaning, "Hokan." Thank You for writing, Kathy (Johnson) Price

According to information I have, David Hokan Linderholm, born May 31, 1898 in Galesburg, IL, married Nora (no last name given & no date given). He died January 25, 1965. The only other mention of Nora is the following note: "Nora died in the Galesburg Convalescent Center and buried in Memorial Park Galesburg, IL. She died a pauper." David Hokan Linderholm was the son of Lattimer Linderholm and Elizabeth Andrews. Lattimer was the son of Hokan Lars Linderholm and Hedvig Jonson---all of Altona, IL. Hope this helped. If you already received this information, please accept my apology.

The professions of these men seem to be consistent thru the years also.

Looking for someone who may know the connection between these individuals. Ellen Egan was the wife of James Egan. She was living in the Knox County Alms Home and James Simpson was her guardian or Conservator. He filed many papers on her behalf so that she could receive her husbands pension from the Civil War. Is he related in some way?? James and Ellen Egan were married in Montreal Canada and settled in Knox County around 1850. Trying to find other families that were related to them. Ellen's maiden name was Russell. Dorene _________________________________________________________________ Test your Travel Quotient and get the chance to win your dream trip! http://travel.msn.com

Her parents were also listed as David McCrary & Amanda Osborn. I haven't been able to find anything on David McCrary. I have found an obit for Kitty: The London Times last week announced the death in London Mills, Oct. 19th, [1888] of Mrs. W.C. Shreeves, "of blood poisoning, two days after she had become the mother of a fine girl baby. The cause of her death was contracted probably months ago and when the first signs of the fatal malady became apparent it was too late for medical skill to prevent the sad result, although all was done that could be," Mrs. Shreeves was in the 22nd year of her age. Was married to W.C. Shreeves, April 21st, 1887. -- This was in the Fulton County Ledger, Thurs, Nov. 1, 1888. So, now, did the baby girl live? Did her father keep her? What was her name? I have not yet had a chance to look in the 1900 & 1910 censuses for W.C. yet. If you have any additional info, you can contact me at [email protected] Thanks.

Joel's grandmother Starboard was born in England and her name previous to marriage was Hersay. "We do not know the names of Joel Starboard's parents as they died when he was small. They were Americans and natives of Aroostook County, Maine. His mother died when he was four years old and his father died when he was ten years old. He then went to live with an aunt and she died soon after and he was left to shift for himself. However, he had a sister and two brothers--Martha, George and Henry. "His father was a carpenter, a cabinet maker, a fan light cutter and a painter. "Joel Starboard came from Maine to Galesburg, Illinois in 1842. He was a plowmaker, a shingle maker, and a maker of linseed oil. "Two years after coming to Galesburg, he married Miss Julia Ann Annis. After an 11 year residence in Galesburg, he purchased a farm on the prairie which was four miles south of the present site of Galva. The next year after he moved to the farm, a railroad was built through that country." Emma G. Williams was born 21 Jan 1878 and died May 7, 1951. Hope this helps with your search.
