    3. List, I was looking for any info on Noble Leach or James Leach on Google and I came across this Obit for Noble. It didn't say what paper this appeared in. I thought I might be helpful to those of us working on Leachs so here it is... Aged Grandfather of Miamian Dies in West BARTLESVILLE, Oct 31 - Noble Leach, 84 years old, father of J. S. Leach, editor and publisher of the Bartlesville Daily Enterprise, died last night at the home of his daughter at Portland Ore., after a brief illness. Mr. Leach was a native of New York and had lived in Kansas for a number of years. The body will be sent to Topeka for Burial, probably Saturday. Two sons and two daughters survive. They are G. C. Leach, deputy United States fish commissioner at Washington; Mrs. W. C. Cartlidge of Chicago, Mrs. J. W. Arnott of Portland and J. S. Leach of Bartlesville. Edward E. Cartlidge, advertising manager of the Miami News-Record, is a grandson of Noble Leach and son of Mrs. W. C. Cartlidge. He knew nothing of the illness or death of his grandparent until the Associated Press dispatch came over the wire to the News-Record at 12:39 o'clock this afternoon. OCT 31, 1928 [was written in pen at the bottom of the clipping] **The scanned newspaper image was somewhat unclear, so I transcribed info above into text for the list. Tyson

Perhaps you fit into this line also...CJ Date of marriage is good and the adoptive parents resided in or near Knox County for awhile. Did your William Clark have children about 1860-1870 ? How long did his wife survive. ? Was he ever a circuit rider for the church or was he a local minister for those years? Thank you very much Lora If you need to send an attachment my email address is [email protected] >

He married Ella Jane Robey, a west virginia schoolmate. They had three children, Thurman, Mildred and Mae. John Elmer and Ella were married in1899 in Woodburn, Iowa. He had a brother Manny two years younger. My father said John Elmer's dad and many generations back were ministers. He is buried in Woodburn cemetery. Hope this helps. Linda

The adoption occured about 1868 and was not supposed to be discovered. Adoption records were not recorded expecially if a relative or friend took in the child. I would appreciate knowing more about your CLARK ministers. This Clark was in IL, IA and KS. He might have been promoted to a 'bishop' type status. He or one of his relatives had given name of William or Will. Probably, he had been active with the underground railroad. He and/or his parents were from NY. His father might have been a Methodist minister also. I would appreciate knowing more about your CLARK ministers. Hopefully, I might find a clue in your information.
