It said on her certificate that John ANDERSON and Anna MARCUM are her parents. It's hard to read the writing, but it looks like John was born in Kentucky and Anna in Tennessee. For some reason, I thought Alpha's dad's name was Reuben, but perhaps his name was John Reuben, as that's what she named her youngest child. Does anybody happen to have any more information regarding this family? The ANDERSONS had three children: Reuben B. (born about 1844), Alpha (born in 1850), and Mary (born about 1854). Mary married Salem MARTIN and they had a daughter, Bessie, and Reuben served in the Civil War in Company D 102nd Illinois Infantry and died in Florida. Thanks!

Thanks for sending info on the petition, was glad to sign it. Had no idea it was getting bad to get these records, guess I'm not there yet. I did see one statement in it that may need clarifying. Ordering films through the Mormon church does not support the church. The fee charged covers postage, not the man-hours required to read the order, pull the film (or in some cases, make a new film), box it, mail it etc. So the more films you order through the local library, the more it will "cost" the Mormons, which they don't mind, they're glad to help others of any faith. My mistake on my ancestry. It should be Alexander Robertson who married Elizabeth McLean. They had Daniel Robertson. He was born about 1844 in NY or Vt the son of Peter Wheeler and Elizabeth Pettis. The census states that his father was born Vt and mother in NY, this fits Peter and Elizabeth. A cousin said that our Charles Wheeler was alive in 1928. We found Civil War records that state Charles was listed as missing in action in Spotsylvania, VA May 10, 1864.
Rick, I have forwarded your info to my sister. I just got a new computer and after backing up my family trees to floppy on the old system I've discovered that my new one doesn't have a floppy drive. Isn't that the way it goes? ha ha Various info gave Jonathan's place of birth as VA, WV and Ireland. I believe it was an obituary that led us to place him from Kanawha Co., VA. Our Dennisons were in Lawrence County, OH for a while and came to Iowa. Mostly in Linn County. Will let you know if we have a connection after I hear back from my sister. This is the farthest back I have right now on paper, but I know my sister has updated the file since I printed this. Jonathan Dennison, Jr. b. abt. 1783 VA d. Dec. 3, 1853 Center Point, Linn Co., IA. Hi Jayne, My maternal G- Grandmother was Emma Dennison, born 1879 in Iowa and died 1916 in Nebraska. She was the daughter of Edward and Mary. Edward was the son of Martin and Sarah, Edward was born in 1858 in Iowa and died in Nebraska in 1934. Martin was born in Ohio in 1826 and died in Iowa in 1905. He was the son of Huston and Sarah (nee Roby) and she was born in West Virginia. Huston parents were both born in Virginia, David about 1765 in Augusta VA and Mary Douglas about 1765 also in Augusta. I can't verify all of that which is why I am on this quest. Is it possible we have a connection? I could ask a friend that lives down in Rio. It may take a few days though, but if it was recent, she might know. After all the area is very small. Are you descended from the Robertson's? I am descended from Daniel Robertson who married Elizabeth McLean.
