You may be answer to the million dollar question I have about the Walker's in my family. How far back do you go with the Peckenpaugh's, and do you have any information that might include the Walker name out of Kentucky that settled in Schuyler Co, who I feel are/might be my family of Walker's in the Hardin, Breckenridge, and Grayson Co area of Ky, and they connect to the Peckenpaugh's. Confused yet? If you have anything I sure would love hear about it. Linda

I just received your posted response to my query at RootsWeb. Your grandfather was my grandfather's brother, so that makes us cousins. My grandfather was Clarence William Peckenpaugh. I have tons of information now on the family, so if you ever want any answers, I would be more than glad to send it to you. I also have a very old family bible, complete with pictures of most of the family, including some tin-types. As an aside, you are the only one I have heard from that actually calls Hattie by that name. I've always heard it that way, but some are trying to tell me her name was Harriet. No one in my family has heard that, so.........who knows? Thank you so much for taking the time to post your reply. Linda

Many of the families you mentioned began there. I just ran across a Peckenbaugh in the "History of Warren County". Chapter XLV discusses Kelly Township and on Pg 923 the settlement of the county is discussed. Here is part of what it says: "Also in the list of pioneers are found the names of Joseph Paddock, the old surveyor; Thomas Champion, George and James Brown, Henry and Edwad Martin, James Stevens, Henry and John Peckenbaugh, Steven Mitchell, Hiram Gray, the Richardsons, Chas. B. House, Wm. Francisco, John Grissam, Basil Watson and Stephen Bell. I don't know the year of publication, since what I have was handed to me and not marked accordingly. It's always a possibility but I think my main line was only in Knox County. I am also related to the McMURTRY, CHAMPION, CANNON and RICE lines in Knox County. There were quite a few marriages between Peckinpaugh and RICE, if I remember correctly. If there is anything about a Nicholas RICE or his wife, Mary Ann Marilda Elizabety HICKMAN in the book, I'd sure be interested. Or if any of those other names are in there. Anna Barbara PECKENPAUGH's parents were Johann Adam BECKENBAUGH / PECKENPAUGH (died 7 March 1746/47and his wife, Anna Maria Schmitt who died between 1777-1778. Is there anything in the book about them? I wish I lived in the midwest where I might get my hands on some of these treasure books. But if I checked out here, might find some good ones because a lot of midwesters came to California! Thanks for writing! Lucy Lucille Hammond was married to James Elliott. She passed away on June 02, 1961, according to the DAR data that I have found. Lucy was a sister to my grandmother, Julia Theodora Hammond Addis. They were children of Theodore Hammond Jr. from the Center Prairie area of Knox County. Theodore, his wife, and his daughter are buried in Victoria cemetary and Theodore Sr. and his wife are buried in the Galesburg Cemetary. I have found some Elliott's in the Center Prairie cemetary also, but not Lucy or James. I am interested in learning of any living children of Lucy and James if anyone might accidently know of them. It has been suggested that Lucy or one of her children could have written a book regarding the Hammonds in Knox County. Other family members included: Clarence H. Hammond, Mary Lenora Hammond, Hannah A. Hammond, Aletta May Hammond, and Eldon Hammond. Pat Schmidt [email protected]
