I can't help you with the undertaker part of your question at this time, but the Elgin City Cemetery was also known as the Channing Street Cemetery. It is no longer in existence and is now a park and the site of one of our elementary schools. When it closed family members were to move their loved ones to other cemeteries, but some were never moved. If you are interested in more info, there is a short history of the cemetery on the Elgin Genealogical Society web site at www.elginarea.org/egs Judy ldever wrote: >Good afternoon all, > >I have received the death certificate of my 3rd great grandfather Orlando >BARR who died in Elgin in December, 1900.
