While researching the 1893 Batavia (IL) Herald, I found an article from September 21, 1893 attributed to the Aurora Beacon that there was a Kane County census in 1893. A table was listed comparing the townships and villages by wards for population increases since the 1890 federal census. I don't see an 1893 state census listed as being available in "Ancestry's Red Book" and was wondering if this might have been just a Kane county only phenomenon. I don't recall ever seeing results of the 1893 census in local libraries, but I may be getting senile (more than an even chance of that!). Are the detailed census schedules available someplace as stand-ins for the 1890 lost census? Gary Batavia IL
