    3. My gggrandfather, Magnus JOHNSON (1823-1917) and gggrandmother Maria JOHNSON (1835-1915), are buried at Garfield Cemetery in Campton Township (at least I "think" that it's Campton). Since I'm hitting dead end after dead end, I was wondering if anyone knew who was the keeper of the records for this cemetery. Any help would be appreciated. TIA, Terry Terry Beck ta.beck@gte.net

    3. Terry, Have you tried contacting the Garfield farm folks? They might be quite helpful. I put "Garfield Cemetery Illinois" into a Google Search and have discovered that: * the cemetery is in Campton Twp, near the small town of Wasco * the "Garfield Cemetery Association, St. Charles, 1852" was one of the 2002 Award Winners at the Illinois State Historical Society¹s Centennial Awards Banquet which was held Friday, October 11, at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. * "Teddy Roosevelt" is going to speak at the Farm on Sep 18, 2003. * there are many Garfield Cemeteries in other counties too...for best results, be sure you are looking in Kane Co. when you open a page I put Garfield Farm Illinois" into a similar Google Search and learned: * It is a museum is based on a 19th century farm. * The farm is a National Historic Site * The "best" site to read about the farm is <http://www.garfieldfarm.org/> where you'll even find a nice picture of Illinois this winter. * There are a couple of pages, at least, of other related sites. * Contacting Garfield Farm Museum By telephone: 630/584-8485 By mail: PO Box 403, LaFox IL 60147 By e-mail: info@garfieldfarm.org Let us know what you find out about the cemetery! 3. I should confess, I'm a librarian. So, I did what any good librarian SHOULD do--I contacted a colleague. The St. Charles Public Library has a real-time reference service, as well as an email service. They answered my question within 3 hours! There's a Garfield Cemetery Association and they gave me a contact name and number. I'm going to call her tomorrow. Many thanks to all, Terry -----Original Message----- From: Kristy Gravlin [mailto:hannah@teleport.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 11:46 AM To: ILKANE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILKANE] Garfield Cemetery Terry, Have you tried contacting the Garfield farm folks?
