Listers, Does anyone know of a town called Garden Prairie? In an ancestor's 1930 obituary, her son Fred Swanson is listed as living in Garden Prairie. I checked my favorite "locate a county" web site and the only town with that name comes up in another state. There's a possibility for Fred in Campton Township in the 1920 census. Are these two locations near one another? I'm assuming Garden Prairie is now called something else. Does anyone have any ideas? TIA! using my trusty rootsweb.com home page, I scroll to ustowns/counties and entered in garden prairie and up pops boone county. then if I click on boone cty, the system takes me to some good links including the boone cty genweb and the links to subscribe to boone cty mailing list. I would check on the genweb to see if they hasve the townships outlined. this us towns/county is a nice little tool. try it out. even try it out on a city you know is in kane cty and see what you get.. you might find something new tocheck out.. valentine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Branching Out" <BranchingOut@attbi.com> To: <ILKANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 15, 2003 7:58 PM Subject: [ILKANE] Garden Prairie > Listers, > > Does anyone know of a town called Garden Prairie? Laura, Garden Prairie is still Garden Praire. Started in 1850 with the coming of the railroad when the station was located there. It is an unincorporated village in Bonus Twp, Boone Co., IL. It is on US 20 about a mile from the McHenry County line. Six miles east of Belvidere. (I grew up there.) Dan Branching Out wrote: > Listers, > > Does anyone know of a town called Garden Prairie?
