For immediate release June 11, 2003 The next monthly meeting of the Kane County Genealogical Society will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at 7:15 p.m. in the Carnegie Room of the St. Charles Public Library, located at 1S. 6th Avenue, St. Charles. The speaker for the evening will be Dr. Margaret Brady, who will discuss techniques necessary to conduct an effective family history. Dr. Margaret Brady has written personal and historical profiles for individuals, businesses, religious organizations, and universities throughout the Midwest and Australia and produced a documentary of 19th century Burma that premiered in Melbourne Australia. Dr. Brady earned a doctorate from Northern Illinois University where she currently teaches phenomenological research methodology, including life story interviewing and writing. Also a professional musician, she holds bachelor's and master's degrees in music from The University of Michigan. Dr. Brady is a member of the Writer's Studio in Crystal Lake, which offers courses in creative writing and writing your life story. She also writes for Miographies, which offers services in life story interviewing, writing and the creation of a miography. All are welcome to attend. The mission of the Kane County Genealogical Society (KCGS) is to gather and preserve regional historical records and serve as a county-wide educational resource for those interested in genealogy.
