    2. Edward is mentioned George J. Spriet Services for George J. Spriet, 85, of St. Charles, will begin at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St., Geneva, proceeding to St. Patrick Mission Church, 6 N 491 Crane Road, St. Charles, for Mass at 10 a.m. Born Sept. 29, 1912, in Moline, to Frank and Pharilda (nee Youdlts) Spriet, he passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at his residence. Burial will follow Mass, in River Hills Cemetery, Batavia. At age 8 months, Mr. Spriet came to live with the Coryn family on a farm outside of St. Charles. A lifelong member of the community, he continued farming until 1991. The land presently is owned and under development by the St. Charles Park District, and in the future will be named the Spriet Sports Complex. Mr. Spriet was also a lifelong member of the Kane County Farm Bureau and a member of St. Patrick Mission Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Flora Spriet (nee Tooley); son, Les Spriet of St. Charles; daughters, Elaine (Peter) Thompson of Houston, Texas, and Jan Spriet of St. Charles; brother, Edward Spriet of St. Charles; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Spriet was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Albert and Charles Spriet; and sister, Mary Murrin. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Memorials in Mr. Spriet's name may be made to the St. Patrick Church Building Fund or to the charity of donor's choice. For information, (630) 232-8233.
