    3. Robbie...here are some helpful hints for your research trip to Elgin. Bill Blohm is the Genealogy Librarian at the Gail Borden Library. It would be a good idea to contact him. His schedule varies from week to week. He does work every Tuesday (split shift) morning and then late afternoon til close. The library is open from 9 to 9 M-Thurs, 9-5 (or 6) on Friday andSaturday and closed on Sundays during the summer. The copiers uses $1.00 bills but the microfilm machines use dimes only. There is a color copier that is $ .75. The Elgin Township Probate records are part of the collection at the Elgin Area Historical Society. There is an index to these records on the Elgin Genealogical Society web page. In order to view the records you need to contact the museum director, Liz Marston. Her Email address will be at the end of this note. They charge $.25 for each copy. The museum docents are there to help visitors not researchers, so Liz will either help you herself or arrange for someone familiar with the probates to help you. It's probably not a good idea to just show up and ask to see the records. Be sure to ask Liz what the museum hours are during the summer. If you have any more questions, please do contact me. Happy to help. Judy Van Dusen Elgin EAHS email: [email protected]
