Gail Borden Library in Elgin has complete card catalogs (and I assume microfiche) for the Elgin Courier and the Watch Company news (Watch Word??). The card catalogues list all birth, death and marriage info, so if you are looking for this type of info, searching the actual newspapers isn't necessary - very handy.
