I just acquired an old photo type postcard from about 1912 with the caption "Elgin Road at Ferson's Creek Bridge, St. Charles, Ill." It was mailed to Miss Mary Scott at 20 Garden St, Auburn, NY and says. "Dear Sister Mary, Hope you are all well. I am thankful to say I am out again and in the country now. I was very sick for 7 weeks. It is grand to be well again. Will write a letter later. With Love Bessie" (at least I think it is Bessie). Any way, my question is -- Is Elgin Road, what is now Route 31 and was once Route 22? Or could it have been what is now Randall Road? Does anyone know? The photo is of a dirt road -- were the wheel tracks mostly appear in the center. The bridge seems to be a iron arch about 3 feet high reinforced with wood and metal. June
