    2. Hi Grace, I would be happy to look in the Elgin papers for this obit. Also, growing up here in Elgin, we lived across the street from a HABERKAMP family. I remember the son's name was Ray. The family was from the Dundee/Carpentersville area. Ricky Harris

    3. Hi Joyce. I don't have any info on Ed Betts, Jr. other than he was born in 1905 (found him at age 15 in the 1920 census living in St. Charles with his father). So far my research has focused on his father, Edward Betts Sr. (my great-great grandfather) and Edward's first daughter, Ruth (my great grandmother). But it's most likely the Ed you mentioned and my Ed are one and the same! Thanks for responding. Do you know if Ed, who was born in 1905 worked for Marshall's Grocery store on River St. in Aurora in the 30's? My dad was born in 1910, but lived in Aurora all his life. He worked at Marshall's grocery delivering groceries and then was a city bus driver for over 25 years. I don't have any history on the Betts family, but it was interesting to recognize a name from my past. 3. Hi That is so interesting. My mom said she had forgotten about Ruth, but faintly remembers her. Hard to believe she got married at 15, imagine she was young when she had her children then. we moved there in 29 or 30 I think. Was your father related to any of the other Andersons in STC? I wondered about the big gap in age between her and Vern. Have you ever been to STC? Did you get any more information on an obit for E that died in the unavoidable accident? 3. Ricky, WOW ... what a generous offer ... I don't know what else you could find there for me? How about an obit on Anna Maria Betts (nee Grus) who died 08/07/1923? She died in California, but lived most of her life in Cook & Kane County and was buried in St. Charles. My brick wall is Jacob Betz/Betts, the head of this family. He was born in 1812 in Bavaria and died sometime between 1875 and 1880 -- cannot find any record of marriage to Anna or of his death. Most of the Betts family is buried in the St. Charles Township Cemetery, but I don't think Jacob is there; haven't been able to get a hold of the cemetery yet. I find myself walking around the house saying to myself, "where is Jacob, where could he be." It's like he disappeared. Anyway ... Do you know the first names of the Betts' who lived in Elgin? Not sure they'd be related, but at this point ya never know. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ricrac186@aol.com To: ILKANE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, November 22, 2002 4:25 PM Subject: Re: [ILKANE] 1920 Obit Look up Hi Margaret, I'll see what I can find for you.
