    3. Yes there is a Garden Prairie--it is 7 miles straight east of Belvedere on Route 20. My father came to that area after his father died. It is prime farm land. I still have many cousins living in the area--one on Garden Prairie Rd. which bisects Route 20. Grace

    3. Laura, Garden Prairie is still Garden Praire. Started in 1850 with the coming of the railroad when the station was located there. It is an unincorporated village in Bonus Twp, Boone Co., IL. It is on US 20 about a mile from the McHenry County line. Six miles east of Belvidere. (I grew up there.) Dan Branching Out wrote: > Listers, > > Does anyone know of a town called Garden Prairie? 3. using my trusty rootsweb.com home page, I scroll to ustowns/counties and entered in garden prairie and up pops boone county. then if I click on boone cty, the system takes me to some good links including the boone cty genweb and the links to subscribe to boone cty mailing list. I would check on the genweb to see if they hasve the townships outlined. this us towns/county is a nice little tool. try it out. even try it out on a city you know is in kane cty and see what you get.. you might find something new tocheck out.. valentine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Branching Out" <BranchingOut@attbi.com> To: <ILKANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 15, 2003 7:58 PM Subject: [ILKANE] Garden Prairie > Listers, > > Does anyone know of a town called Garden Prairie? I checked my favorite "locate a county" web site and the only town with that name comes up in another state. There's a possibility for Fred in Campton Township in the 1920 census. Listed with them were 2 sons RALPH b.1919 and HAROLD b.1921. I believe there was a daughter THERESA b.abt 1903. She was not listed in the Census. THERESA was in a picture of the 50th anniversary of EWALD EBBINGHAUS and his wife EMELIA (HUCKENBECK) taken in 1926 in Woodslee Ontario Canada. I would like to get in touch with any living relatives of the ZENNERS. Further information is available on my WebSite: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/b1repd54 Any pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them. Thanks very much.

    1. [ILKANE] OHLEMACHER & GROCH families of Aurora, Kane Co., IL
    2. Rick or Nancy Gleason
    3. Several of the Ohlemacher family brothers relocated from Sandusky OH to Aurora in the late 1850's and early 1860's. Charles and his wife Elizabeth nee Steppich lived in Aurora from the 1850's to the late 1860's, relocated to TN where Charles died in 1879. Elizabeth returned to Aurora and married a Smith sometime after 1880. Elizabeth died in 1926 and is buried with her second husband in Spring Lake Cemetery, along with two of her adult children from Charles. Charles and Elizabeth's son William was living in Aurora in 1930 in the same house previously occupied by Elizabeth prior to her death. William later relocated to KY where he is buried. Charles' brother Frederick Ohlemacher arrived in Aurora around 1858. He married Clementina Groch of Aurora in 1862. Fred was involved in several occupations from cabinet maker to lime kiln operator. Several of their children were born in Aurora. They returned to Sandusky around 1867. Christian Ohlemacher changed his name to Ohlmacher. He also lived in Aurora for a while as at least one son was born there, in 1867. I'd be interested in any information anyone may have on these families, particularly during the time they were in Aurora. Also, there is a Frederick W. Ohlemacher age 1, interred in the Spring Lake Cemetery in 1872 in plot JE-299. I do not know whose child this is and would like to know if anyone can help me.
